September seems to get people back at it. Whatever it is.
I am back at scraping paint. You would think I enjoy this, considering how much scraping I do, but no....I don't! I just like the results!
This is the top half of the mantle piece from the Brooklyn house. We spent last winter admiring it in its half-scraped glory, but this winter I want to admire the fact that it is finished! So this is where I am hanging out these days:
It's going along well, except for the fancy bits. Stripper here, not so much scraping!
This fancy bit on the bottom half is done. Hard to tell in this photo, but it really did clean up nicely.
So yeah, almost done! (The top half!)

Excuses...
Well.... I've been busy!
My excuse #1 for not blogging:
Traveling.
This is the house I grew up in (the white one in the middle) in London, Ontario. It looks just as it did when I lived there (well, actually the maple tree is missing and the hedge used to go all around both yards.) Our house and the twin next door were built c. 1900 for two sisters as wedding gifts from their parents. Imagine!
